Flying Turtle Farm, 65 rolling acres located on Lookout Mountain 35 miles south of Chattanooga, offers grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and sustainably grown vegetables for direct sale to local restaurants and individuals. We are proud to play a part in helping create and expand our local food economy, and we take our role of stewardship of the farm very seriously. No synthetic fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides of any kind are used anywhere on the farm. We use organic methods and derive and maintain our
soil fertility through extensive composting of manure, hay and vegetable waste and through the use of cover and green manure crops. While our long term goal is to move away from a reliance on heavy internal combustion engines, we do use biodiesel fuel in all of our tractors. We are also striving to operate the farm as a completely integrated system by eliminating off-farm inputs as much as is practicable.
